Rehoming of BCFE Circuit to Citywest
Connectivity to BCFE will be lost while the Bluenet link to Servecentric,
where the circuit is currently terminated by Smart, is swapped with the
local cross connect in Esat-X.
20070621 17:16 OMG Waiting on cross connect in Esat-X to be delivered
before scheduling an outage with BCFE.
20070712 16:34 OMG Smart replied to my emails saying that the
cross-connect is in place and it will be connected into their equipment
this (Friday) morning. Asked again for the circuit ID for this new circuit
so that Esat-x can complete the labeling.
20070727 16:01 OMG Received an update from Enda in Smart with the circuit
details for the new termination of this circuit in Esat-X. The circuit ID
is STP023863 and it is presented on port fe-1/1 in the Smart Node located
in the EU Networks Cabinet in ESAT-X (the x-connect was ordered by Roger
Hogan of EU-Networks). The other end of this link interconnects at RTE
Donnybrook, which is the launch site for the radio that feeds Ballyfermott
Will arrange testing of the circuit from RTE to the new endpoint in
Esat-X, including the crossconnect to where we terminate on ar1-cwt. Once
this has been deemed satisfactory we will then swap the port in RTE
Donnybrook from the current live circuit to the new circuit and test
again. No changes will be required at the Ballyfermott end.
Testing will be arranged with all parties the week of August 7th.
20070921 16:34 OMG Testing is provisionally arranged for next Wednesday,
September 26th at 8:00am (hopefully completing the work before 9am, but
BCFE are aware that this may run over to 10am). Awaiting confirmation from
BT Application hosting that the cross connect from the meet-me-room to our
cage is in place.
20070924 19:06 OMG Mark Fagan of BT confirms that the cross connect is in
place in Esat-X to our cage. Have confirmed this with Enda in Smart and
asked him to confirm that his engineers are ready for Wednesday morning
and have access arranged to Donnybrook and Esat-X to test and migrate the
final leg to Citywest.
20070925 18:29 OMG Rehoming going ahead tomorrow morning as planned. Smart
managed to arrange access to Esat-X. GM will be onsite in Esat-X to
migrate the patching on HEAnet's end.
20070926 08:40 OMG The Smart Engineer going to Donnybrook (Adam) is stuck
in traffic at the moment, so the start time of this work has been delayed.
Work planned to go ahead as soon as he arrives on site (expected in the
next 10 mins), but we may over run our window because of this.
20070926 09:39 OMG Smart are unable to get access to their kit in
Donnybrook as the RTE engineer won't be in until 10am to give them access.
We are doing local tests in Citywest to check the cross-connect to
that end of their equipment is working. This won't be service affecting.
20070926 10:03 OMG Smart have got access in RTE and have begun testing. GM
confirms that x-connect is working fine to Smart's kit in the meet-me-room.
OMG rang Peter in BCFE to let him know how things were progressing. Once
testing is completed between RTE and ar1-cwt.hea.net, we will swap over
the ports in RTE to the existing radio port, and the x-connect in Esat-X
to the existing BCFE port on ar1-cwt.
