"Also the Thatch Ceilidh Band with Roger Sherlock playing what looks
like a nice boxwood R&R" Thomas J.
"Or it would have been before he took his penknife to the finger holes."
Oh dear, didn't know that, pity. Does the flute still exist? I suppose
he was wanting more volume. I met Paddy O'Neill from Derry at Miltown
this year and he had a nice R&R, a three digit, 8 key, but missing the
original head joint. Paddy had just got the flute back from Gary
Hastings who'd borrowed the flute for 7-8 years. Paddy mentioned that he
didn't find the flute loud enough. I suppose it's what you're used to.
Paddy sat behind me in the session and I certainly thought the flute was
very loud. Paddy's a very good flute player and singer, and can rattle
the window panes like Kevin Crawford.
