Ticket Update: 20070626 10:51 UTC+1 Problem End:
Primary connection in NUIM has gone down.
NUI Maynooth was inaccessible until about 10:15, and had partial
connectivity until 10:43. Full connectivity is now restored using a backup
20070625 09:35 KD Primary connection failed over to backup line but there
is no traffic being sent. Backup is responding to pings and BGP is
running. NUIM are investigating.
20070625 10:56 DW NUIM reported that while external traffic was being
exchanged, traffic with universities was not. The old ATM link was still
active and exchanging prefixes, but traffic sent over it was not being
delivered. Disabled the ATM link at 10:43, and connectivity was restored.
Will check the configs of the routers involved to ascertain if any other
action is needed to ensure correct failover.
20070625 12:36 DW Called BT back (following an initial call this morning).
Since their ticket system is down, they are still unable to log the fault.
However, there is a major fault affecting multiple customers that is being
worked on, with an estimated resolution time of 18:00. NUI Maynooth
continues to route over its backup Gigabit Ethernet circuit.
20070625 15:17 DW BT reports that the problem is due to a fibre break in
Citywest. Repair work is scheduled to start at 22:00, and continue until
it's done (estimated 03:00.)
20070626 10:51 DW NUI Maynooth link remains disconnected by client pending
completion of local work related to failover. Traffic continues to route
over their backup circuit.
