IOS bug on the current version of code running on the HEAnet office router
(cpe1-heanet) is causing intermittent issues with access beyond the LAN.
Some systems connected to this router are intermittently unable to connect
to any system outside the LAN. This persists for ~12 hours before fixing
itself. The problem is linked to mac addresses and changing mac address
on the affected system restores connectivity.
IOS upgrade will require a reload and access to and from the HEAnet offices
will be unavailable during this work. Estimated duration of the outage is
20070212 10:16 BN Confirmed the recommended IOS with Lancomms, moving to
12.2.35-SE1. IOS upgrade will be performed during the maintenance window
on Wednesday morning. While the actual outage is expected to be ~5
minutes, a thirty minute window has been allocated.
20070214 08:34 BN Upgrade proceeded as planned, actual router downtime was
~3 minutes. All services to and from the HEAnet offices have been
restored. This will be monitored for twenty-four hours.
