LEIA (Bachellery & Lambert) favors an etymology first suggested
by Stokes, who derived "cumal" from "cuma". If true, "cumal"
would go back to *kamulâ, from the IE verbal root *kam- (or
*kem@- [kemH2-] = "to get tired". Compare Greek kámnô.
