Etymology of Cumal 'female slave'

I've looked through Old Irish-L archives and elsewhere, and have found
no etymology for _cumal_ 'female slave = 3 milch cows.'
Has anyone encountered an etymology, or would anyone be willing to put
forward a suggestion?
