portia.hea.net, one of the resilient services routers in Brooklawn House
will be powered down, prior to being moved to the new HEAnet services
location in Blanchardsdown.
There will be a loss of resilience within the HEAnet services network for
up for 5 weeks, as the migration occurs. There may be a brief loss of
connectivity to some HEAnet services during the powering down of portia,
due to HSRP latency or BGP convergence times, however we expect any such
outages to be minimal.
20060512 12:01 CMC Opening ticket
20060518 09:16 CMC Preparing to power down portia in 15 minutes.
20060518 09:42 CMC Portia now powered down. Connectivity to
whistler.heanet.ie was affected, also investigating some routing loops.
20060518 11:38 BN Routing loops have been corrected, however connectivity
to some services, such as ftp.heanet.ie and v6 connectivity to the RIPE
TTM box are still affected. These issues are being worked on.
20060518 13:30 BN ftp.heanet.ie is once again accessible over IPv4, work
is continuing to restore IPv6 connectivity. IPv6 connectivity to the RIPE
TTM box is expected to return shortly.
20060518 14:35 LT There is a persistent issue with IPv6 connectivity to
ftp.heanet.ie, due to what appears to be a bug in the operating system
kernel. IPv4 connectivity to this box has been stable for over an hour.
IPv6 connectviity problems to the other boxes still being worked on.
