Due to a Cisco bug that causes a router to reset resulting in complete loss
of service, two PoP Access routers in Brooklawn House (Mantova)and DCU
(Kuiper) require an upgrade to IOS version 12.2(18)SXE4 during the
maintenance window on Wednesday 1st February.
Clients with resilient connections will reroute during the upgrade. Other
clients will experience a loss of connectivity of up to 10 mins but should
be considered at risk for the full maintenance window. HEAnet services in
Brooklawn House will be unavailable for up to 10 mins. Resilience is
provided for Hot Standby, DNS and Webhosting.
20060130 14:12 AH Prepare running order. Brooklawn House will be scheduled
for 08:00, DCU for 08:30. Contact [log in to unmask] if the schedule poses any
20060201 09:02 AH Brooklawn House upgrade took place as scheduled but
following the upgrade, interfaces on one linecard did not return to
operational. This affects resilience to HEAnet's services network and
causes a 50% drop in capacity on the connections between Citywest and
Brooklawn House. Support providers have been contacted and the DCU upgrade
20060201 10:18 AH Problem diagnosed as standby supervisor failing to boot.
Code on standby supervisor was updated and connectivity returned. DCU
upgrade will take place in the next maintenance window.
Time to Fix:
Initial reload of mantova (Brooklawn House) took place from 08:09 to
08:14. Service was restored to stalled card at 10:12.
