At the University of Cologne
The International Graduate School in Genetics and Functional Genomics
invites applications for its
3-year Ph.D. programme starting September 2006
10 Ph.D. fellowships available
The Graduate School offers research opportunities in cellular, molecular,
developmental, physiological, neuro- and
evolutionary genetics and genomics in plant, animal and microbial systems.
Applications in the plant and microbial fields
are especially encouraged.
After a six-month period of lab rotations and methods courses, students
carry out a Ph.D. research project in one of the
participating groups. The programme includes research seminars, training in
scientific writing and presentation, lecture
series by international experts and individual support through thesis
advisory committees.
The tax-free fellowships (1000 EUR per month) are initially granted for the
rotation period. On satisfactory performance,
they are extended to a total of three years and raised to EUR 1300 per
month. Additional funds are available for
attendance at scientific meetings and training courses, and for invitation
of speakers at an international level to

University Diploma in Biology or
