The members of both the SASAqS and PSSA operate in aquatic environments

respective annual meetings. Mozambique was selected as a conference
venue to stay in line with the "southern African" nature of both
Societies. In addition Mozambique receives water from most southern
African countries (i.e. Namibia, Zimbabwe, Swaziland and South Africa).
Hence the theme of the conference "Source to Sea".

Whilst not wanting to be too prescriptive the initial theme topics are:

"	A call for further suggestions

The conference venue will be the Pestana Rovuma Hotel, Maputo,
Mozambique. The initial costs are (sponsorship is being sought for

o	four dinners which includes one cocktail dinner (Monday - ice breaker)
and one sea food Banquet (Thursday), and
o	non - alcoholic soft drinks (one per lunch and per dinner, except the
cocktail dinner where each pays their own), and two beverages for the
conference dinner.

Planned format of the conference:
"	Arrival and registration of delegates by 14:00 on Monday 19 June 2006
o	Monday 19 June 2006 -Opening and plenary sessions (15:00 - 18:00)

north of Maputo.
"	Thursday 22 June 2006 - Plenary and parallel sessions
o	Societies banquet and prize giving's
"	Friday 23 June 2006 - Departure

At this stage we require interested persons to please complete the
pre-registration form and return it to the organizers by 15 January
2006. This would allow for us to gauge the level of interest and make
initial bookings. Please circulate this announcement to non-members.

It must be noted that to secure our bookings it would be necessary to
receive a 50% deposit and full payment early in the new year (i.e. by
February and April 2006 respectively).

Full details will be made available in the Second Announcement and Call
for Abstracts, which will be sent out in February 2006.

We look forward to seeing you all next year in Maputo.
Seasons Greetings
