The 2007 Phycological Society of America meeting, which was to have been
held in New Orleans, has been moved to Providence, Rhode Island. This
change was made because of the New Orleans flooding following Hurricane
Katrina. Although the venue for the meeting (Loyola University) was not
badly damaged, this change will allow the local organizers and others to
concentrate on other aspects of hurricane recovery. We hope to have the
2008 PSA meeting in New Orleans, but that decision is not final.

The 2007 meeting will still be a joint meeting between PSA and the
International Society of Protozoologists. The meeting will begin with an
opening mixer on the evening of 5 August followed by four days of
scientific sessions. There will be optional field trips offered on 10
August. The PSA local organizer is Dr. Glen Thursby, and both PSA and
ISoP are very grateful to him for being willing to accept this
responsibility on relatively short notice.
