Over the past year, I have been collecting quantitative data on footwear
terminology in three or four European languages, and I would like to
extend my database to Scottish Gaelic. My data focus on the words that
ordinary people use, rather than simply examining dictionaries and
With that aim in mind, I have developed a pair of small anonymous
questionnaires, which can be completed online. The most important one

and it contains a link at the bottom to the second questionnaire, if
people have time for both.
I would be very grateful if you could ask anyone whom you consider to be
a fluent speaker of ScG whether they would be willing to participate. I
am looking for a spread of genders. Participation is, of course,
optional, and participants are assured of anonymity. It should only
take about 5 minutes per questionnaire at most.
