Following last year's General IP Transit tender, Global Crossing are moving
one of HEAnet's general internet connections to a separate router. This
will result in improved resilience, and will facilitate the introduction
of native IPv6 on the connection shortly afterward.
During the maintenance window, general internet traffic will be diverted to
our backup connection to Global Crossing in Kilcarbery Park. After the
maintenance, HEAnet's customers will have improved protection against
failure of or maintenance on any equipment involved.
20050408 16:50 DW Open ticket.
20050414 13:59 BC GX have asked if they can move the backup circuit
instead. HEAnet is in agreement and the move will go ahead tonight (14th)
at midnight as planned. Brian Callan will take part in conference call and
confirm to GX if everything looks good after the changes.
20050415 01:15 BC Dialled into the conference call at 00:00 midnight local
time (23:00 UTC), waited 12 minutes. No-one else joined. Rang Edjar
Martinez's mobile number and left a voicemail. Checked email - no mail
from GX. Waited until 01:00 local time (00:00 UTC) - waited 10 minutes on
conference - no one else joined.
No alarms on Netsaint and no outages shown on MRTG. NOC mobile was
forwarded to office, but no message left on office machine. Was the work
cancelled and no one informed HEAnet?
Time to Fix:
