Hallo a h-uile duine,
reading through some Scottish Gaelic folk lore ressources concerning Brighid
and customs related to her, I wondered - are there any nice small texts,
poems, prayers, blessings etc. related to her in Old / Middle Irish?
Something that maybe a beginner like me could try to look at and translate?
I'm going to the library tomorrow anyway, so I'd be happy about a hint where
to look maybe...
By the way, wrote my first end-of-term test last week in Old Irish class and
it went fine :-) (well, lesson 1-8 of Quin's workbook, that was not so hard
anyway). I'll continue with Aisling Oenguso during the holidays, I suppose,
and I've also copied a few poems from a book called "A golden treasure of
Irish poetry". It has Irish verses from several centuries, and English
translations in prose. Some of the poems looked not so difficult. Does
anyone know it?
Dennis, I printed out the ololygmancy poem and will take it to the library
tomorrow to try and work on it with a dictionary :-)
