> "I have been in beautiful lands," said Nera, " with treasures
> and great wealth, with an abundance of clothing and food and
> wonderful jewels."
A number of commmentators on EN have remarked that this is the
sole passage in our tale in which the Otherworld is described
in glowing terms. In other echtrai, the praise of the beauty
and wealth of the Otherworld is typically more lavish. The
enmity between Otherworld and Thisworld is front and center
here, however, so that may account for a darker view of the
Síd. It has been suggested that the above passage is no more
than stock description of the Otherworld that was plugged into
the text here, with little regard for the surrounding events
and descriptions. Barúil ag éinne?
