HEAnet is migrating the New York POP from the Teleglobe co-location space
in 60 Hudson St to a new co-location facility hosted by NYSERNet(New York
State education and research network) at 32 Avenue of the Americas. This
new location also houses the MAN LAN and several other Education and
Research networks from around the world.
Traffic will be uneffected with the New York traffic being re-routed via
existing GEANT and Global Crossing links.
20031120 09:27 EK HEAnet router has been delivered and will be powered up
and configure today.
20031211 11:55 EK HEAnets TransAtlantic, Global Crossing link will be
moved from 60 Hudson St to 32 Avenue of the Americas at 9am GMT (4am EST)
on Friday the 12th of December. The following peerings will be shutdown at
9am: CA*net4, Abilene, SINET, STARTAP.
If the move to 32AoA is successful. New peerings from 32AoA will be
established with Abilene and SINET via the new router at 32AoA.
The peerings to STARTAP and CA*net4 will follow once Canaire complete
their move to 32AoA.
If the move is unsuccessful the move will be rolled back and the shutdown
peerings will be re-established.
20031212 09:26 EK Global Crossing have cancelled our cutover in New York
due to lack of available staff. Global Crossing will provide a new time
and date for the cutover. All work is postponed.
20031212 20:09 EK Global Crossing have confirmed Monday the 15th of
December at 9am GMT for the cutover of the HEAnet transatlantic link from
60 Hudson st to 32 Avenue of the Americas.
20031215 09:14 EK 9:05 Shutdown the following peerings to facilitate
20031215 09:49 EK Rolling back to original config. Migration cancelled.
Will reschedule with a new time and date shortly.
20031216 09:25 EK Re-scheduled the migration from 60 Hudson St to 32
Avenue of the Americas for 9:00AM GMT(UTC) on the 17th of December 2003.
20031217 09:35 EK Shutdown the following peerings to facilitate move.
All traffic rerouting via GEANT.Switchover progressing.
20031217 16:48 EK. The physical migration to 32 Avenue of the Americas has
been completed and the new router in New York is up and working. Traffic
to Abilene is now via the new router. The CA*net4 and STARTAP peerings
will not be re-established until Canaire complete their move to 32 Avenue
of the Americas. We will continue to closely monitor the new router and
links over the next 2 weeks.
