Due to continuous outages on DCU circuit it has been moved back to bearer
ATM502420 which resulted in a short 5 minute outage. Circuit should now
remain stable until work on STM4 has been completed. Plan to revert to
STM4 at 9.00 a.m. on 20031204 still applies.
20031204 08:43 SOB Eircom called this morning to let us know what they
would be doing for our ATM problem.
They have two options:
Firstly they could replace the Active Control Card with the card they have
with them now. This would cause an outage on our remaining ATM circuits
on that card.
The second option is to simply install the new card and set it up as an
automatic back up to the card that is currently there.
This is the option they are taking. With this in place they have
scheduled to move the remaining ATM circuit off the card that is currently
active next Wednesday morning. Once this is done they will be free to
replace that card at their leisure.
So in the short term we should see no further outages to our ATM links on
that card as it now appears to be stable but if this card does fail it
will automatically cut over to the new card. In the long term they will
be able to replace the current active card in a scheduled outage at some
point in the future with a new card containing the standard version of the
HLS software (version 3).
20031205 09:46 AH Intermittent outages continue, affecting ATM Reach,
Dublin-Citywest backup and TCD and UCD backups. Eircom have been asked for
an update. No further services will be added to this bearer until it is
confirmed error free.
20031205 12:27 AH Eircom have confirmed that the outlined work was not
able to take place when intended. It has now been scheduled for early in
our maintenance window 08:00 - 10:00 on Wednesday 10/12/03 and will
require an hour outage on ATM Reach, Dublin-Citywest backup and TCD and
