It occurred to me today that you might use a different approach.
For [log in to unmask], I use Mozilla Thunderbird as a mail client
(for the purposes of this discussion, it is effectively identical to the
integrated mail in Mozilla 1.5). It has a built-in junk mail filter that
uses "Bayesian" methods, and is trained by the user designating emails
as junk, and in the rare cases of false positives, designating them as
non-junk. Junk emails can then be filtered or trashed. Since I started
doing this, I've had one false positive (duly marked non-junk) and after
a few months, I get virtually no false negatives. My work email
([log in to unmask]) has SpamAssassin on the server, and it does a
remarkable job on a much higher volume, but it misses about 5% of the
junk. (Pair.com, where I host mockfont.com, also has SpamAssassin, but
Mozilla does a better job.)
The other two big advantages of Mozilla are UTF-8 (Outlook has this, but
Eudora doesn't), and a threaded display of email lists based on message
id. There are some downsides, and I still use Eudora for work, but
Mozilla is IMO the best choice for email lists.
Perhaps you could get an additional address at themicrofoundry.com (e.g.
[log in to unmask]) for a small additional fee and use it for all
your lists.
