Tharla leabhar i mo láimh an oíche cheana a chosain pingin mhaith orm
tamall de bhlianta ó shoin, ach nár oscail mé le tamall fada, mar atá, _An
Introduction to the Irish Language in three parts: I. an original and
comprehensive grammar; II. familiar phrases and dialogues; III. extracts
from Irish books and manuscripts in the original character, with copious
tables of the contractions_, leis an Rev. Wm. Neilson, D.D.

Clónna spéisiúla ann, idir Ghaelach agus Rómhánach, ponc séimithe in úsáid
leis an dá shaghas, agus an síneadh fada in éineacht leis an srac mhall in
áiteanna.

Sa chaibidil faoi 'Syntax' tá an rann beag seo:

'Dean airis air a bheachan bhinn,
A dhiulas gach blath bhias air a choill,
Biodh sinn crionnach cosmhuil leis,
Agus cuimhnidhe air an uair nach dtig air ais.'

'Take example by the bee,
That sucks each blossom of the tree;
Let us, like it, be timely wise,
And mind the hour, that quickly flies.'

Ní fheadar cé acu an bunleagan/an t-aistriúchán - an leagan Béarla nó an
leagan Gaeilge - ach má tá foinse chomhaimseartha as Béarla ar eolas ag
éinne agaibh, níor mhiste liom an tagairt sin a fháil.
