I am working on the Táin Bó Cúailnge.
I have Cecile O'Rahilly's editions of Recension 1 and the version from the
Book of Leinster.
O'Rahilly gives us some information about the scribe that produced the Book Of
Leinster - Áed Úa Crimthainn who was apparen
tly he was the Chief Historian
(briefly) to the King of Leinster.
But all we are given for Recension 1 is the name - Muire mac Céilechar and a
date 1106 (I assume the date of death but this is not stated.)
Can any tell me anything more about Muire mac Céilechar and in particular
where he was from. Was he an Ulster-man? Can we view his version as the
Ulster view of the story, as opposed to the Leinster twist to the story.
