Any chance that there was in OIr a cognate of the modern Irish prefix "dír"?
we had "telephone" and "mobile phone" on this list already. Here comes the
next item: what would you say for
"answering machine/answerphone" in OIr.?
My suggestions would be:
1. frecraid cíangotho do X "answerer of the telephone of/for X"
(frecraid = agentive masculine i-stem)
2. indell frecrai chíangotho do X "device of answering of the telephon
of/for X" (frecrae = yo, n verbal noun of fris-gair)
What would you say for "automatic, auto-"? I can't think of anything
