I'd think twice about this. DTDs are firmly entrenched, easy to
understand, and easy to use. There is no reason to believe they're going
away any time soon.

If DTDs are sufficient for your needs, you should continue to use them,
augmenting them as needed with Schematron. You should consider using a
schema language such as XML Schemas or RELAX NG only if you have a clear
need for one, such as wanting to specify data types or writing
schema-driven code.
