It most certainly will. I was under the impression that it was originally
designed for use with a violin. It's been advertised in "Strings" magazine
for as long as I've been a subscriber. I've been using one for three years
now and it works great, especially in noisy environments, although it has
trouble when you're sitting in the middle of a full orchestra while everyone
is warming up. I don't know of a tuner that will function under those
One note: it works with a plucked (pizz) string, not bowed. Someone
complained that it had trouble picking up the pitch; I think they were trying
to tune while bowing the string.
