When we're talking about places to visit in Ireland, don't forget Spiddal.
Drop into Hughes's in Spiddal for the music. Also, if you're visiting the
Aran Islands, you might do well to visit Inishman rather than Inishmore,
especially if you're going in summer (too many tourists on Inishmore).
And also here's a vote to visit the Sunny Southeast, particularly Wexford.
My father-in-law lives on Hook Head, and it's a lovely area to visit,
including Duncannon (with its old fort complex) and the Hook lighthouse
(oldest lighthouse in Northern Europe). If you get down to Wexford, be sure
to drop by Colfer's pub in Carrick-on-Bannow of a Thursday night, where they
have a smashing session.
