>Also, the Aran Islands are well worth a visit, and Roundstone harbour
is just beautiful - food for the soul.
I'd have to agree that this is the direction I would head, then on toward
Westport, Sligo, Donegal, etc. Especially in high season, when the Ring of
Kerry or Dingle Peninsula, despite their breathtaking beauty, more closely
resemble an L.A. traffic jam. The highlight of our trip was an evening in a
little pub in Riverstown, Co. Sligo, where the session was frequented by
some amazing players from both North and South, and an old flute player
said, "Our traditions pre-date our divisions". As far as we could tell we
were the only Americans in town (but nobody held that against us), so it
was much more of a slice of life than the staged sessions in Killarney.
Of course, if time permits, that list of destinations in the North looked
spectacular (Giant's Causeway, Carrick-a-Reid Rope Bridge, Rathlin Island,
etc.) Send us a virtual postcard or two!
