The situation is complicated - the history of the Irish as presented in the
medieval Lebor Gabala Erenn is a mixture of early native traditions (more
scant than many would like to admit), and a thick strata of medieval learned
Christian speculation, some of which came from the Continent (via the
Spaniards Orosius and Isidore).
