I've been using Ventura since version 1.0, actually, back in the DOS/GEM
days. If I could, I'd avoid Word utterly, but our office is essentially an
MS shop, and I have to deal with what the authors hand me, and prep the
docs for the website and other things. The big boss is my worst problem --
he just does not see the point in using anything that's "not compatible"
with MS products. Urgh!
The worst is when I have to "re-purpose" a document, taking the main
article out of an already published document, and reusing it in one of our
weekly releases. Getting everything to flow properly can be a nightmare.
What would take me 15 minutes in Ventura can chew up most of an afternoon,
with much silent screaming and clenching of teeth.
By the way -- it looks like Corel Corp will be putting out a beta release
of a brand new version of Ventura this fall. The old girl's not dead yet!
