There are two easy ways; neither of them involve much on your part. Acrobat 5.0
will allow you to save the PDF as a Word file, so if you were only using XML as
an interchange syntax with no other value-add, this is a better route. You can
also save PDF as XML, using a free plug-in and Acrobat 5.0 - if the document was
created as tagged PDF, the results can apparently be very good.
Someone here has access to a whitepaper that explains it and provides examples -

conference paper and I'm unsure of whether I can distribute it.)
