Bill Hill is the visionary behind the Microsoft Reader.  His whitepaper is
now available as an ebook from <URL:
http://slate.msn.com/ebooks/00-09-26/ebooks.asp >

It looks good, from the TOC; he mentions Tschichold and saccades, at least. (-:

It is only available in the LIT format for the Microsoft Reader (<URL:
http://www.microsoft.com/reader/ >), but I don't think any typographer with
access to Windows will be disappointed by the text quality of this
software, even if it does come from the evil empire.
