I have been asked to remind subscribers to XML-L that the default
action specified in the list headers for "Reply-To" is to direct
replies back to the list, NOT to the individual poster.
This is deliberate and normal because this is a discussion list, so the
default is naturally aimed at public discussion. Only in very rare
cases on old-fashioned lists nowadays does REPLY direct the reply
back to the individual instead.
If you click REPLY, your reply will be sent to all 800 or so
subscribers. If you want to reply to the individual poster (perhaps
privately :-), you need to examine the headers of your
outgoing message and edit the "To" field so that it contains the
address of the individual, not the address of the list.
And yes, I am very well aware of the political bigotry and
anal-retentiveness surrounding the genesis of RFC822 "Reply-To"
