Hi List ,
Can anyone please help me here ?
I have a simple xml file which contains one japanese string.
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="Shift_JIS"?>
<root>some japanese string</root>
I am using :
- IE 5.5 browser
- WinNT Workstation ver 4.0, English Language.
- Xerces 3.0.1 API
- JDK1.2.2 API
When I view the xml file in browser, with "Shift_JIS" encoding, the file
looks perfect. i.e. I can see the japanese kanjis.
But when I change the encoding to "UTF-8", I get to see garbage characters.
So far it's OK.
Now, I am trying to write a java prg which parses this file and displays
the japanese string on the screen. But somehow, it isn't working. It
just shows question marks ("???") on the screen ! !
Do I need any extra settings on my machine ?
Do I need to install the Japanese language on the machine ?
Has anyone tried this before ?
If anyone could just point me in the right direction.........
Please help me.
