You are right. I didn't make things clear.
An alternative to creating content with XMetaL is to use Word, Powerpoint,
Excel to create content. But at the same time let others incorporate this
content in other Word and Powerpoint files on the publishing end. The
alternative is to use XMetaL to create the content.
In either case I was envisioning that the Word template matches the DTD for
the particular content and we can parse the data and store it in Vignette's
There would be an interface from Vignette to MS Office for other users
to "insert" content from the database into Word documents for example.
