What is the most elegant way of referencing external
objects in a document which will be output to both
print and electronic? They will contain the same
materials, but in print there may be ten pages in a
row of illustrations (10 tiff files), while in
electronic the material will be combined into one file
so the user does not need to click on ten separate
images. The images may need to be updated over time,
so some correlation between the print and electronic
versions needs to be maintained.
Also, we currently specify a distance from the top of
the page where the illustration should set, which is
measured in points. What may be used instead which is
applicable to both print and electronic?
Can anyone recommend resources which address the
special needs of data which will be used for both
print and electronic?
