TYPO-L March 2000
Jo Clarke: have any of youse run across *real phrases in the real world* that, by virtue of being typeset in font X, uniquely characterize or epitomize font X? Most definitely, Jo. But not so much a phrase. The name of the font itself. Think the word 'Helvetica', see Helvetica. See the word 'Plantin', Plantin it is. We have a breakfast cereal in the UK called Optima but the typeface isn't. I still *see* Optima though.
