But that "available technology" changed significantly between
the time the project started and finished. This is Carter who
tells this, btw. That's why I'm saying that the resultant font
was in effect under-designed, not because Carter misjudged the
problem/solution at the beginnging. I think he's naturally
gifted when it comes to balancing aesthetics and technology.
And I'm not even saying that anybody else is to blame for the
resultant under-design. For instance, one year ago who would
have thought that you'd be able to buy a 10 gigabyte hard
disk for US$150 or something...
