=Good morning

Hi

==
==- IT Association not happy with compliance definition, want
==standard to be lower than Europe and North America
=
=Who is the IT Association???

I have been told that the ITA is a suppliers organisation, I guess
its the one that replaced, if my now jogged memory is correct, the old
Business Equipment Association or was it the Computer Bureau lot?
Unfortunately I cant get into their home page to check. (the problems
at my end, relax boys!)

Given that they are suppliers my concern about them wanting a lower
standard definition for y2k compliance is even more worrying.

IT specialists wanting a lower standard would be pretty poor from a
professional stand point but to have the suppliers arguing for low
standards is really rather concerning.

==- Dumping of non-compliant equipment not monitored

Maybe this next point raised in the report has something to do with
it?

Does anyone agree with me that to have a supplier body calling itself
by such an all embracing name as the IT Association is taking
arrogance to new levels? I remember thinking so when I saw the name
change but I was younger and quieter then!

Certainly I would suggest that we should not allow their views of IT
to govern our, as IT practioners, business decisions, standards or policies.

Cheers

Henry
